Manufacturers are doing their best to bring autonomous cars to the masses as quickly as possible. But even if these cars supposedly drive more safety and efficiently than their human occupants, what happens with the inevitable accident?
Who is at fault? The person behind the wheel (but not using the wheel)? Or the company that programmed the car how to drive? If the driver is switching back and forth between autonomous driving and manual driving, at what point is the responsible party liable for the repair bill?
And what happens when the cars are used for nefarious purposes?
